Saving the puzzle
You can save the crossword that you have partially solved and resume solving at a later time. To do this, you will need to save a file on your computer. You will be able to save as many crosswords as you want under different names. Follow the instructions below carefully.
Save Instructions
-
Click on the Save icon in the left panel of the crossword when you are ready to save. Your web browser will then show a page with instructions and a Resume button. You will not see the crossword displayed. This is normal.
-
Use the Save As command in the File menu of your web browser (while it is displaying the above mentioned page).
-
The web browser will give you a file dialog box to select a directory to save the page to. Select a very conspicuous directory and note down the directory if you are not sure you will remember it later.
-
The file dialog box will also have a place to provide a file name. Make sure that you enter a name that you will be able to remember later. It is best to use a name like Nov1497.htm using the date of the crossword. We also strongly recommend that you end the filename with the .htm extension.
-
Some dialog boxes may give you a choice between saving as a text file and as a source (or HTML file). You MUST select the latter. You should NOT save the page as a text file. This is extremely important. Once you click on OK (or Save) in the file dialog box, you have saved the puzzle data successfully.
